Надпись на векселе (bill of exchange), свидетельствующая о том, что он перестал быть переуступаемым/обращающимся инструментом (Negotiable instrument); хотя он и может продолжать переходить из рук в руки, его обладатель не может претендовать на большие права, чем то лицо, от которого этот вексель был получен, что является защитой на случай кражи. Чек - единственная форма долгового обязательства, которая может быть кроссирована как “не обращающаяся”; на других видах долговых обязательств надпись должна делаться на лицевой стороне.
